What is now globally recognized as Margento's technology, was first known on some markets as M-Pay. However, when mobile payment became only one of the wide range of financial and transactional services, from loyalty programs to data management (while at the same time business is expanding to a global scale), a more original name was introduced and intellectually protected.

If it sounds Latin, it’s not by chance. The Mediteranean Sea was the cradle of the first financial transactions - from the Greeks and Phoenicians to the Roman Empire. Their version of bankers were called argentarii.

PARTICIPATING IN THE NEW CULTURE OF OUR TIME

Argentarii operated at banks known as tabernae argentariae which were set up in the forum. The chief occupation of argentarii was to exchange coins. Permutatio was the exchange of foreign coins for Roman ones, and was one of the responsibilities of the argentarii. They also kept sums of money for other people. Argentarii might be custodians of money in order to pay interest on behalf of those who had entrusted them with the money. While in their custody, the argentarii would use the capital for their own profitable purposes. Argentarii could also act as agents, such as at public auctions. They also tested the value of coins. During the imperial period, the argentarii were responsible for the circulation of newly-minted coins.
